The War and Peace show is held annually and celebrates 29th year. The show is held at the The Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, Kent, England on the 20th to the 24th July 2011.
Covering 500 acres, the War and Peace has become The World's Largest Military Vehicle Spectacular.
The first field covers the traders, which sell everything and anything. Weapons from daggers to rifles, machine guns, bombs and missiles can be bought, along with near enough every combat uniform worn by the major powers from both World Wars. There was even stalls selling sweets, fruit and vegetables.
The rest of the farm fields holds the military vehicles, bought along by enthusiasts and collectors. This year the show was expecting more than 3,500+ military vehicles to attend, in all shapes and sizes. Tanks, Armoured Vehicles, Half-Tracks, Motorcycles, Trucks, Jeeps and more. A few had for sale signs pinned on them, of which one I fell in love with, a FV432 with a Cymbeline mortar-locating radar, unfortunately a serious lack of funds (I didn't know how much it was anyway) and the fact the beloved would kill me if I bought it meant it was not to be mine lol.
A arena area has a lot of the vehicles driving around and at one point a Abbot demonstrated its immense firepower by targeting a car, which had to be extinguished by the Fire Brigade they have on site. The T-34s also demonstrated how loud firing a shell off is, and boy is it loud, much to my amusement as I said to Luciano "you have got to get a picture of it firing", when it fired I'm not sure which jumped higher, Lucky or the camera, but credit where credit is due he got the pic.
This was my first time at this show, and I highly recommend this show to everyone, the sheer size of the show, is an absolute eye opener. If every weapon, and vehicle was fully armed and not decommissioned you could take over a small country lol.
