1) Iowa class. Great lines, actually fired in anger, last of the BB's.
2) Essex class. Won the war in the Pacific, never sank in battle, had two of them nearly destroyed but survived, and a great example of American manufacturing might back in the day.

I'm surprised how many British ships nearly made the battleship/battlecrusier list - HMS Hood, HMS Vanguard, HMS Renown, HMS Duke of York
