So, Im in the planning stage for my next project. I want to depict a WWII pacific theater diorama showing an abandoned Japanese Float Plane being discovered by US Marines.
There are a number of 1/48 scale Japanese Float planes available but I cant seem to find any good detailed 1/48 US Marines?

If I go up a scale there are some lovely 1/35 scale US Figures but I cant find a good 1/32 scale floatplane?

Anyone help with the above? maybe a pointer to some links or products I may have missed.

Hi Jon

i think your going to be disappointed on both accounts as there are no good Us marines in 1/48 and i know of and no float planes in 1/35...

I do how ever know that evolution miniatures do a great set in 1/35 here

and masterpiece models do a wrecked zero in 1/35 here

if they are another option?

you may find the zero on eBay as they masterpiece sell quite a few kits on there, i can also recommended Exeter company or hobbyeasy as a source for the figures (as either the big set or individually)

Cheers Keith, yeah those evolution figures are outstanding.

Ive just been doing some research on the internet, there seem sto be a lot of Arado AR-196 in Japanese colours? Revell do a 1/32 scale AR-196.

The Revell Arado is a beautiful kit available in either single or double float models (the single float aircraft was experimental and never went into full production however.)

I have thought many times that combining the twin floats with a Zero fuselage (Or with any other small Japaneese airframe) would make for a mighty good looking aircraft.

There is a 1/32 scale Zero Float plane out there. It is I think a modification for the Zero, but one has been built on Aeroscale, I produced some masks for it.

I've had plans for a Japanese float plane diorama for a long time but I cocked up the float plane model, so that is on hold. I was using a Kawanishi K1N1 but you won't find one of those in 1/32, I don't think?
