
Yes, A/B and Cube of the Sea are the same thing. So, apart from a drydock or a building slipway scene, the only way to depict a sub in a diorama without tossing most of the kit away is such a method.

I'm registered and log in on behalf of my father. His name is Jorge and he is the avid modeler, but the English language doesn't work for him well so he is asking me frequently to answer and post topics in fora like this one. He is very interested on a link or any reference about the "cube-of-the sea" display format. I made a search on the web and the only thing that I've found is an old article from Fine Scale Modeller dating back to 1987!
I know that my father has not been building a/b waterline models for such a long time (he said he started about 2003 but he never heard or saw anything like that). So far he has built more than 20 ships using this type of representation plus about a dozen more that he is working on now......
