The Highwayman (54mm)
by: Sam Berry  |  Vendor: Darkstar Miniatures
I recently discovered Darkstar Miniatures at Scale Model World 2014 through their trade stand. I actually noticed their range of paint first then I saw the resin figures and busts laid out on the stand. There were many that caught my eye and are now firmly set on my to buy list (once Christmas is over with for this year) but ‘The Highwayman’ I just had to buy there and then. He is one of several 54mm releases and they retail around £12.50, I believe they are on offer at £10 at the moment on the website    >> READ MORE

P-47D THUNDERBOLT (1:72)
by: Andy Brazier  |  Vendor: Hobby Boss
Hobby Boss are the new company on the block. Boasting of unique technological capability in design, development and manufacturing, they should be a company to look out for. Their 1/72 range of aircraft are aimed I believe at the younger and less experienced modeller as they are simplicity itself to build. The experienced modeller will still find these kits great fun for a quick fast build.   >> READ MORE

Building The Airfix Spitfire MKI (1:72)
by: Nigel Julian   |  Vendor: Airfix
Way back in 1955,the Spitfire was the first aircraft kit released by Airfix. The company had been the first in the UK to use an injection plastic moulding machine and in 1947 were the biggest manufacturer of hair combs in the UK. For modellers of the time the Airfix Spitfire was probably the first aircraft they built. Over 50 years later not much has changed. Last year I returned to modelling after over 20 years of inactivity, and I built the Airfix Spit. 8 months later and Ive decided to revisit my, first labour of love, and the boyhood joy of building an Airfix Spitfire is still as strong as it ever was.   >> READ MORE

Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb (1:48)
by: Andy Brazier  |  Vendor: Tamiya, Inc.
Tamiya's line of 1/48th model aircraft, are for the most part widely considered to be state-of-the-art. Only there older kits are now showing their age, compared to the newer releases. Tamiya kits are usually found to be excellent fitting and fairly well detailed. The 1/48th Supermarine Spitfire MK Vb falls into this category and looks like a typical Tamiya shake and bake kit. Even though this kit is over 10 years old it will still produce a well detailed representation of one of the most modelled aircraft.   >> READ MORE
