Hi Folks,
Would anyone have a pictures of the type of ammo boxes used to store the 75mm Pack Ammo used by the British Airborne Troops?
Thanks

Hi Al
Can only find a couple of poor quality pics showing the ammo. Both show the rounds in individual fiber board tubes. |

Hi Derek,
Thanks, if I come up with anything I'll post it up. Have you seen any pics of the Airborne jeep configured to tow the 75mm? I was going to use the basic 6pdr design but wanted to get an idea of the ammo box size.
I don't know if the British boxes their own ammo or just used the standard American issue rounds.
Cheers
Al |

Al
According to "British Airborne Jeeps" all Lt Rgt jeeps were fitted with a bracket on the bonnet to carry 15 rounds of 75mm ammo in Clover Leaf pack M48, 3 rounds per pack. I have a photo of a similar arrangement fitted to an anti-tank Bty jeep, that I will scan and post tomorrow.
Are you coming to Telford. If so I will bring the Jeep book for you to see. |

Here you go Al, Clover Leaf stowage. As you can see the individual rounds are in fibre board tubes held in groups of 3 by the shaped end plates. |
