Euro Militaire 2010

Euro Militaire celebrated its 25th anniversary this year over the weekend of the 18-19th September at the Leas Cliff Hall Folkestone. I was joined on my visit by Andy (Betheyn) and honoury member George (Luddite), which helped when hunting for that figure you saw but couldn’t remember where you saw it (only to find it had sold out)!
The show is spread out over several floors with a small entrance lobby, then down the first flight of stairs, where half a dozen traders plied their wares and the ‘Castle’ (Dio Clervaux) diorama was to be found.
Also located here were the Kent Regiment ‘the Tigers’ which saw the three of us dig deep into our pockets for the charity bucket, before the squadies even had a chance to say a word. From here it was around the balconies to see some club displays and more traders, then down into the main hall which was full of traders and quite full of visitors, but it did seem down on the usual numbers.
It’s down the stairs again for the bar, restaurant, club displays and of course the competition area. The work on show was great and a nice idea. Along side where the best of show model is displayed the judges work can also be viewed, so that you can see that they have the right to judge. One small complaint would be that the best of show is housed in a glass case which provides very difficult problems for taking photos.
We all came away with some new figures or busts and wishing we had more money to buy others (Andy, being the case in point lol).
