Operational Overview
Who else fondly remembers saving up their pennies to bring home one of those exciting little bags or boxes? Who else remembers hurriedly gluing together the latest acquisition to add it to the collection? Who else remembers that vivid art, each box top telling an evocative story of the subject concerned?

Let's relive those halcyon days, when references were unheard of, fist-sized rivets were the order of the day, and our imaginations were sufficient to overcome the fingerprints glued into the surfaces of the parts.

I propose a build of any Airfix kit produced before 1976. It can be a more recent re-issue as long as the moulds were cut before 1976. Aftermarket decals will be permitted, especially in the case of original kits where the decals may have been lost to the ravages of time. Aftermarket parts and/or scratchbuilding will be permitted, expecially where necessary to correct Airfix' occasional egregious shape errors, but I'd like to keep the flavour of the build closer to 'out of the box' as opposed to 'total rebuild'.

The Rules and Regs
The Rules and Regs
1. Your kit must have originaly been issued during 1976 or before. Re-issues are allowed. If the moulds were modified after 1976 that's okay; they were still produced before then;
2. Any scale, any era, any subject;
3. Some Airfix kits were reboxed by Heller and MPC. Those will be permitted since the plastic remains Airfix. If you can prove a reboxing by another company, it'll be allowed;
4. Your build should have the "Out of the Box" flavour, but some scratchbuilding or aftermarket to correct egregious shape errors or replace missing kit parts is permitted;
5. The kit decals should be used if possible, but may be beyond help, so alternate markings are allowed. “What if” markings may also be used;
6. Build as many kits as you wish, but only 1 ribbon will be awarded per person;
6. Minimum of 2 progress shots in the official campaign thread plus minimum of one shot of the completed build in the campaign gallery. The gallery may be found at on the PHOTOS tab at the top of your page, then click Campaigns » Currently Active Campaigns » Ancient Airfix Assemblers Campaign ;
7. The finished shots for the gallery must be taken against a plain background. They will be used in a feature article so the background should not distract from your model. Show off your work, not your cluttered workbench : );
8. Dioramas welcome but not required;
9. Most importantly have fun, enjoy your build, and share your progress with us all.

Contest Element
There will be a beautiful shiny ribbon for those who finish their builds within the time frame of the Campaign.
